Lost Pet Awareness Month
Are you a good detective?
What would you do if your pet was lost?
Do you know how you can find out who a pet
belongs to if he/she is lost?
A) ask people you know if they know who owns the pet
B) post a picture of the pet around your neighborhood to see if anyone claims the pet
C) or you could take the pet to a veterinarian to scan for a microchip!
What is a microchip?
A microchip is a radio-frequency identification (RFID) implant about the size of a grain of rice that provides permanent ID for your pet if he becomes lost.
How big is the microchip?
As you can see in these pictures,
the size of the microchip is very small
Once the microchip has been
found in the pet, it can be
traced to the owner by the special
Id number through the Pet Recovery Service.
It is a device that you use to scan a dog/cat
to see if there is a microchip inside of them. If there
was one implanted, the scanner will find it ! Isn’t that cool?
You can implant a HomeAgain microchip
in a dog or cat…
The HomeAgain microchip is a lost pet’s best chance
of finding his way home.
